LIFT Missions

ASIA '08 LIFT 19 traveled all the way to Hong Kong, Cambodia and Thailand in March-April 2008. Undaunted by the 16-hour non-stop flight from JFK to Hong Kong and the 12-hour time difference, we spent almost three full weeks in these exciting countries on LIFT's first venture into Asia. We were pleased to be led by John Bechtel, founder of Suen Douh Camp in Hong Kong, where over a million kids have heard about Jesus. John knows the culture, geography, language, food, and many influential Christians in Southeast Asia and we learned so much from him and our Asian brothers and sisters during this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We enjoyed ministering with kids at various churches, working with English-speaking university students, teaching English, leading worship services, visiting church plants, and having our worlds expanded as we saw God at work in a place very different from here.

NIGERIA '07 We were thrilled at our opportunity to return to Jos in Nov-Dec 2007 with LIFT 18! It was such a blessing to see several of the same brothers and sisters in Christ from our previous trip as well as expand our ministry to other areas. This time, we went to four different prisons to put on "Prodigal Son Banquets," where the gospel was preached, God was worshiped, we gave out food and other supplies, and God's love was communicated to these lost and broken inmates - and their guards. We also participated in a three-day medical outreach and spent several days at various orphanages around Jos. God is clearly moving in Nigeria and we were so privileged to witness His hand at work in so many lives. Click here to read more about this awesome trip!

ALASKA '07 In March 2007, LIFT 17 traveled not to the equator, but to the Arctic! We partnered with CAMP-supported missionaries, the Baur family, and half of our team was actually flown out to extremely remote villages to conduct Vacation Bible Schools with the local school children during their 'spring' break. The other half stayed in the incredibly diverse city of Anchorage, where we helped run a Day Camp and Bible Club for kids who live in a rough part of the city. It was great to get up to a part of our own country where most Americans have never even dreamed of going! God used that time in the Frozen North to continue to teach all of the LIFT students about His love for all kinds of people - even those so often forgotten by so many others. NIGERIA '06 In Nov-Dec of 2006, LIFT 16 traveled to Jos, Nigeria, partnering with missionaries supported by CAMP-of-the-WOODS who gave the group a well-rounded, eye-opening experience. Not only did we get to take part in a four-day medical outreach and provide free treatment for hundreds of villagers, we also had the privilege of celebrating with federal prisoners who learned how to seek forgiveness and restored relationships. We finished our time there visiting former street boys who live together in a loving home, widows who are learning how to make a living by sewing beautiful pieces, and children of Nigerian missionaries who attend boarding school together.
