LIFT 24 Info
LIFT
now has an amazing 10+ year heritage, and every LIFTer will find
commonality and shared experiences with LIFTers from previous or subsequent semesters.
Of course, every semester of LIFT is a unique experience--starting with the LIFTers themselves! We may do similar outdoor adventures as previous semesters and the curriculum stays roughly the same (the Fall and Spring semester have different classes), but each semester brings new challenges, fresh insights, new experiences, and startling horizons.
For those of you who are interested in the upcoming semester or have already officially joined the LIFT family, here is some specific information for LIFT 24.
Dates:
September 12--December 16
(These dates are subject to change)
Curriculum
We will devote ourselves to the practice of spiritual disciplines, study the Bible as one grand story, grasp the transformative impact of missions, interact with some of the most influential Christian theologians throughout church history, and learn key outdoor skills in our natural lab of the vast Adirondack Park. For more infomation please visit our CURRICULUM PAGE.
Missional Experience: We Will Let You Know Soon!
We have not officially decided where we will go to live out the missional impulse of the gospel in LIFT 24. We are nearing finalization of all the details--We can't wait to let you know.
Here is what we can say: LIFT has a history of traveling to remote areas that are far off the beaten path, and that are often desperate for the love of God. In the past couple of years we have ministered to refugees wounded from riots in Nigeria, delivered 200 lb water purifiers to tiny villages up the Amazon in Brazil, shared the gospel while rock climbing with Hopi youth in Arizona, and we will be hiking upwards of 19,000 feet this current semester to share God's love with some of the highest permanent villages in the world while we serve the Quichua Indians in Ecuador.
We are not allowed to disclose where we are going...yet. But trust us--wherever we go, we will see God mightily at work.
(Just as He continues to be in our own backyards!)
Outdoor Adventures
Fall in the Adirondacks is about as close to heaven as you can possibly get. The perfect weather combines with amazing abundance of adventure locations all throughout the Adirondack Park to make for an unforgettable semester. We will wear you out with rock climbing (both outdoor and indoor), canoeing, hiking, backpacking, swimming, and even some spelunking!
