As National Director of Probe Ministries, Kerby Anderson is a leading expert in several fields, particularly focusing on cultural and political issues, world religions, and ethics. Kerby is an excellent communicator, and each session during his week with the LIFT students is full of information that is vital to the growth of these leaders and their understanding of the world around them. Not afraid of hitting the most controversial of subjects, Kerby will be speaking on such items as Sex Ethics, Islam and Terrorism, Bioengineering, and Homosexuality. We are honored to have Kerby join us for a week each year.

Before pursuing his PhD in Theology at Cambridge University, Dr. Joel Lawrence actually worked on summer staff at CAMP-of-the-WOODS. Now, Dr. Lawrence is a professor of theology and ethics at Bethel Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. He speaks to the LIFT students about a number of topics, including ethics and worldview, and also gives a rare look into the mind of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, one of the great theologians of the 20th century, and the topic of Joel's doctoral dissertation. The LIFT students definitely gain a considerable understanding of important historical and contemporary issues during their week with Dr. Lawrence, and are also forced to take a deeper look at their own LIFT community.

We are delighted to have S. Michael Craven on our roster of guest speakers. Michael is the founding Director of the Center for Christ and Culture, an organization that exists to equip the church with intelligent approaches to issues in today's culture. Michael's week with LIFT is spent speaking on a variety of topics related to secular culture and the appropriate Christian responses to them. Michael is passionate about helping tomorrow's leaders become better equipped to understand and share their faith as they learn more about the surrounding culture. His recently-acquired taste for cycling has also inspired LIFT Director David Sonju to take up the sport!
Dr. David Naugle will be making his first visit to LIFT in January '08, and we are looking forward to learning a great deal from him. Dr. Naugle's book, Worldview, The History of a Concept, has become one of the leading texts on the subject, and his 17 years of teaching Philosophy at Dallas Baptist University ensure that he will be giving the LIFT students a week of incredible classes. In Dallas, Dr. Naugle spends much of his time pouring into the minds of his students, not only through classes, but also in the Paideia College Society. The goal of the Society is "educating Christian students into their true nature as the image of God," a goal we also have for our LIFTers.
LIFT Director David Sonju met Bob Pyne while he was still on faculty at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he served for 17 years as a professor of theology. Bob has since left DTS to serve as Director of Leadership Development with the African Leaders Reconciliation Ministry.
Through the years, Bob has teamed up with author and speaker Joni Powers to develop a curriculum for spiritual development called 'The Expansive Spiritual Life.' Bob and Joni have also co-authored the book LifeSpace: The Practice of Life with God. Their website, www.lifespaceonline.com, is a source of lively discussion for a diverse community of thinkers, encouraging people to "abandon the box for an unbounded, expansive experience of God's glory.
We are excited to see what Bob and Joni have in store for LIFT 19!
