LIFT: Leaders In Further Training

LIFT 19 (and friends) at a Christian camp in Hong Kong on our recent mission trip to SE Asia

LIFT Discipleship and Leadership Training program exists to equip leaders, ages 19-26, to become biblically-guided and culturally-engaged representatives of Jesus Christ in accordance with their unique gifts and callings. LIFT provides important training for the next generation of Christian leaders who desire to spend time gaining a firm foundation in their faith before they enter the workforce or further schooling.

LIFT is a unique, semester-long discipleship and leadership training program, operated by CAMP-of-the-WOODS, a Christian family resort in New York's Adirondack Mountains.
LIFT is a semester of:
  • Quality biblical, theological and cultural teaching
  • Life-changing missions experience (We went to ASIA in March '08, NIGERIA in November '06 and '07 and ALASKA in March '07)
  • Individualized mentoring and discipleship
  • Practical leadership training from experienced leaders
  • Real relationships built in honesty and love
  • Relevant cultural critique and analysis
  • Practical service and ministry opportunities
  • Challenging wilderness experiences
  • Well-known guest speakers and teachers
Most LIFT students have just graduated from college and take the semester to focus on becoming better equipped to follow God and work to build His kingdom. After spending three-and-a-half months in this incredible discipleship and leadership training program, students come away with a solid foundation for their faith and a desire to serve God and others in whatever direction they are headed.

» Spring '08 Mission Trip to ASIA!

We are pleased to announce that our Spring '08 LIFT group traveled to Hong Kong, China, Cambodia and Thailand for its mission trip! This was our first trip to Asia and we had an amazing time on the other side of the world, seeing what God is doing there. Please click here to read all about our trip.

» LIFT Returned to Nigeria Fall '07

Each semester, LIFT takes a life-changing, two-week mission trip. We went to Nigeria, West Africa, in November 2006, and traveled to Alaska in March 2007. We were thrilled to have returned to Nigeria once again with LIFT 18, in Nov-Dec 2007!

God has used these amazing experiences to change the life of LIFT students, helping them to see how He works in cultures and environments that are completely foreign to them. We are excited to have been able to add this element to our curriculum, and love to see how God moves through these opportunities. Click here to find out more about these mission trips!

» Guest Speakers for '07-'08 LIFT Terms

LIFT students have the incredible privilege each semester to have guest speakers come and spend a week with them, teaching the students about topics in which they are experts.

LIFT 18 (Fall '07) once again welcomed S. Michael Craven for a week in September. As founding Director of the Center for Christ and Culture, Michael is on the cutting edge of cultural studies and has much to offer to students who want to make a difference for Christ. In October, we were joined by Dr. Joel Lawrence, professor of theology and ethics at Bethel Seminary. Joel's sessions on discipleship and spiritual life were a highlight of the semester.

We are pleased to be have introduced some new faces for LIFT 19 (Winter/Spring '08), starting with Dr. David Naugle in January. Dr. Naugle teaches philosophy at Dallas Baptist University and is passionate about helping students develop a Christian mind. Kerby Anderson, a LIFT regular, returned for another packed series in February, covering many topics related to cultural apologetics. In March, we were happy to welcome Dr. Bob Pyne and Joni Powers. Dr. Pyne taught theology at Dallas Seminary for 17 years and has also worked with Joni to develop a curriculum for spiritual development. They each added a lot to the LIFT experience!
